Matches will take place in 6 cities: Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Salvador.
The opening will be in Brasília on June 15th, and the final will be in Rio in June 30. The federal capital is the only site that has only one match. All others will host three matches. The semifinals will be in Fortaleza and Belo Horizonte. The schedule of games will be at 4PM and 7PM (Brazilian time). The exception is the match that will determine the third place, which will take place at 1PM (Brazilian time).
Besides Brazil, which, as a host, will lead group A, the other confirmed participants are Uruguai, Mexico , Japan and Spain – the world champions. There are still three vacancies, which will be distributed among Europe, Africa and Oceania. The group draw will be held on December 1st at the Anhembi stadium, in São Paulo.
Brazil is a huge country, so you have to think about distances and logistics before planning what to do and where to go between matches (have a look at the map below). Having said that, there is a lot to see in all regions of Brazil.
Flights from Rio to all other capitals are very common. Not so common between the other capitals themselves. The table below will give you an idea of flight durations between cities.
